Prince County Warriors overcome a four-goal deficit to hand Eastern Express first loss

POWNAL, P.E.I. — The Prince County Warriors overcame a 4-0 deficit to hand the Eastern Express their first loss of the 2020-21 P.E.I. Major Under-15 Hockey League regular season on Thursday night.

Ethan Dickson's power-play goal 30 seconds into overtime gave the Warriors a 7-6 victory at the Pownal Sports Centre. The teams will close out a home-and-home series at the O'Leary Community Sports Centre on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Dickson (3-1) and Carson Griffin (2-2) each had four points to lead the Warriors, who improved to 7-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses). Griffin scored with 5:25 and 51 seconds remaining in the third period to pull the Warriors into a 6-6 tie.

Denver Arsenault (1-1) and Brian Zhang also scored for Prince County. Kordell Ramsay (2), Andrew Thompson (2), Colby Hudson and Jordan Shaw chipped in with assists.

Ross Campbell (3-2) and Evan Nicholson (3) accounted for Eastern's scoring. Mason Power (2), Logan Gregory, Alexander Keus, Matthew MacLean, Dawson Sharkey, Justin Smith and Aiden Wilson chipped in with helpers.

The Express (7-0-1) held period leads of 1-0 and 5-4.

Overall, the shots-on-goal totals were even at 45. George Gallant earned the goaltending win, and Hudson Bradley tended goal for the Express.
