CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The UPEI Panthers used balanced scoring the double the Saint Mary’s Huskies 6-3 Friday in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.
Kyle Maksimovich, Owen Headrick, T.J. Shea and Troy Lajeunesse each had a goal and an assist in the victory at MacLauchlan Arena. Jordan Maher and Riley Whittingham also scored while Kameron Kielly, Tanner McCabe, Darian Pilon and Nick Shumlanski each chipped in an assist.
Stephen Johnson had a goal and an assist while Jacob Friend and Anthony Repaci also scored. Mitchell Balmas, a former first-round pick of the Charlottetown Islanders, had two assists.
Simon Hofley made 42 saves for the win while former Islanders netminder Eric Brassard stopped 16 shots in the loss.
The Panthers held 2-1 and 4-1 period leads. UPEI was 1-for-3 on the power play and Saint Mary’s was 1-for-6.
The Panthers improved to 5-6-3 while the Huskies are 9-7-0. UPEI hits the road Saturday for a 7 p.m. contest with the Acadia Axemen (11-4-0).
