Moncton Flyers defeat Charlottetown Knights 3-2

KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — Moncton Flyers blue-liner Jonathan Desrosiers scored the winner with 3:02 left in the third period Sunday in a 3-2 win over the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights.

It was the final game of the New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League Showcase in Kensington.

Dominic LeBlanc and Alexis Daniel gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead in the second period. Simon Hughes and Kal White tied the game in the third for the Knights.

Samuel Savoie had two assists for Moncton while Daniel, Coen Strang and Braeden MacPhee each chipped in one. Cameron MacLean had the lone helper for the Knights.

Nicholas Sheehan made 21 saves for the victory while Aiden Williams stopped 26 shots in the loss.

Moncton was 1-for-4 on the power play and killed all four of the Knights chances with the man advantage.

The first-place Flyers improved to 33-3-2 while the last-place Knights are 11-19-5.
