ALBERTON, P.E.I. — The top two teams in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League skated to a 4-4 tie at the Jacques Cartier Arena on Saturday night.
The Western Regals jumped out to period leads of 3-1 and 4-1, before the Mid-Isle Matrix rallied with three unanswered third-period goals to salvage a point.
The first-place Matrix now sits at 13-5-6 (won-lost-tied) and the second-place Regals are 12-8-3.
Kalim DesRoches (1-1), Sam Hackett, Chandler DesRoches and Brett Ballum scored for the Regals, who received two assists from Michael McRae.
Reese Wyand (1-2), Joe MacEachern, Landon Hardy and Lucas Buch countered for the Matrix. Carson MacKay added a pair of helpers.
Goaltenders were Nylan Hustler (Regals) and Ty Arsenault (Matrix).
