Metros earn road win over Maniacs

MONTAGUE, P.E.I. — Jordan Birt had a hat trick to lead the A&S Scrap Metal Metros to a 7-1 victory over the Hynes Paving Maniacs Tuesday in Island Junior Hockey League.

Connor Gray had two goals and an assist while Nick Currie had a goal and two assists in the win at the Montague Wellness Centre. Keegan Mitchell had the other goal for the visitors.

Ryan Boswall and Emmett Lyons each had two assists while singles went to Grant Koughan, Colin Koughan, Cale Pierce, Barrington Duffy, Drew Bowman, Nick Bowman and Grant MacAdam.

Tyson McInnis from Jason Poley and Ty Peardon replied for the Maniacs.

Noah Laybolt made 28 saves in the win while Nicolas Jamieson stopped 40 shots in the loss.

The Metros, who held 1-0 and 3-0 period leads, improved to 5-7-1 while the Maniacs drop to 2-10-0. The Metros were 0-for-3 on the power play while the Maniacs were 0-for-2.
