Maniacs beat Metros in overtime in Island Junior Hockey League action

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Nick Steele scored 2:22 into overtime to give the Hynes Paving Maniacs a 4-3 victory over the A&S Scrap Metal Metros Wednesday in Island Junior Hockey League action.

It was his second goal of the game and 11th on the season.

The Metros led 2-0 after the first period at Cody Banks Arena but the teams went to the third tied 2-2. Ty Peardon gave the Maniacs a 3-2 lead 2:13 into the third but Cale Pierce tied it with 11:06 to play.

Andrew Campbell had a goal and two assists for the Maniacs while Jason Poley, Cameron Nelson, Jake MacLaren and Zack MacKay each had an assist.

Nick Currie and Grant MacAdam also scored for the host Metros. Keegan Mitchell had two assists while singles went to Hunter Bradley, Colin Koughan and Pierce.

Cam Duffy stopped 39 shots for the victory while Matt Jelley turned aside 31 in the loss.

The Maniacs went 1-for-3 on the power play and killed both of the Metros chances with the man advantage.

The Maniacs, who have won three of their past four games, improved to 6-18-1 while the Metros are 11-11-2.
