KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — Sam MacNeill had a six-point night and Donovan Arsenault set a team record Saturday as the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild defeated the Saint John Vitos 9-3.
The Wild jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first period and never looked back at Credit Union Centre in New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League action. The Wild increased the lead to 8-2 heading to the third.
MacNeill had two goals and four assists while Arsenault also scored a pair to give him 30 on the season, breaking Frank Fortin’s record of 28 goals in a single season set in 2017-18.
Landon Clow had a goal and two assists while Kalib Snow had a goal and an assist. Will Proud, Kieran Rennie and Austin Arsenault also scored.
Keiran Gallant had three assists while singles were credited to Matt McQuaid, Noah Griffin, Alex Graham and Dixon MacLeod.
Dick MacLaren, Luke Thorne and Carter McCluskey replied with goals for Saint John.
Josh Smith made 28 saves for the victory while Jeremi Delaquis stopped 26 shots in the loss.
Kensington was 1-for-4 on the power play while Saint John was 1-for-8.
The Wild improved to 23-11-4 while the Vitos are 16-23-0. Kensington concludes the regular season Wednesday against the Northern Moose with a 6:30 p.m. game in Richibucto, N.B.
