MacKay, Hardy have big nights in Matrix win

POWNAL, P.E.I. — Carson MacKay had three goals and two assists as the Robin’s Mid-Isle Matrix defeated the Pownal Taco Boyz Red Devils 8-3 Monday in Prince Edward Island Midget AAA Hockey League action.

Landon Hardy had two goals and four helpers in the road victory at the Pownal Sports Centre while Reese Wyand scored one goal and set up three more.

Aaron McCloskey and Spencer Toole also scored while Callum Pineau, Luke Payne, Joe MacEachern, Will Mix, Jayden Murphy, Drew Dorion and Matthew Mills each chipped in with an assist.

Holden Bradley had a goal and an assist for Pownal while Will MacDougall and Gavin Mason also scored. Cole McKeigan had two assists while singles went to Jack Triantafflou, Michael Gallant and Sam Worth.

Noah Visser earned the win while Logan Birt was tagged with the loss. Caleb Drake played the final two periods in the Red Devils crease.

Mid-Isle, which held 5-0 and 7-2 period leads, went 1-for-7 on the power play while Pownal was 2-for-4.

Mid-Isle (13-5-5) leads the five-team league while Pownal (11-11-3) is third. The top four teams are separated by seven points.
