POWNAL, P.E.I. — Caleb MacDonald scored the overtime winner Monday as the Eastern Express downed the Central Attack 4-3 in a matchup of the Prince Edward Island Major Bantam AAA Hockey League’s top two teams.
It was his second of the game and 37th of the regular season. Jude Campbell and Mason Power also scored in the victory at the Pownal Sports Centre.
Alexander Keus had two assists while singles went to Dawson Sharkey, James Wood, Josh Burgess, Evan Nicholson and Ryan Steadman.
Brett Arsenault, Nathan Mossey and Will White replied with goals for Central. Jack MacKinnon had two assists while Cam Squires, Connor Pierce and Luke Coughlin each chipped in one.
Jackson MacDonald earned the win while Thomas MacAdam took the loss.
Eastern led 1-0 after the first period but went to the third trailing 2-1. Central went 1-for-2 on the power play while Eastern was 0-for-3.
The Express finish the regular season 18-10-2-0, second behind the Attack (20-7-1-1), who complete the regular season Wednesday with a 7:40 p.m. game against the Prince County Warriors (6-18-2-3) at Cody Banks Arena.
