CORNWALL, P.E.I. — Graysen LaPorte’s second goal of the game with 7:05 remaining in the third period lifted the Mid-Isle Matrix to a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Kings County Kings on Friday night.
The Matrix trailed the P.E.I. Under-18 AAA Hockey League game at the APM Centre in Cornwall 4-1 after one period and went into the final 20 minutes down 4-3.
Carson MacDougall’s second goal of the game with 11:03 left in the third period tied the game, setting the stage for LaPorte’s game-winning score on the power play.
Gage Taylor (1-2) also scored for Mid-Isle, which improved to 7-6-4 (won-lost-tied). Jacob Doucette (3), Braeden Tremere (2) and Reese Wyand (2) collected assists.
Ryan Steadman (1-1), Brenton Cuddy, Owen Gormley and Taylor Maguire answered for the Kings (1-10-3). Alexander Dixon, Gabe Hartlen, James Hennessey and Keir Sheppard registered helpers.
Ty Arsenault picked up the goaltending win. Drew Chapman tended goal for Kings County.
The Kings travel to Alberton on Saturday to take on the Western Regals (5-6-2) at 7:30 p.m.
