Four players recorded three points to lead the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild to a 7-3 road victory over the Sydney Rush on Sunday.
The interlocking game between the New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League and the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League was played at the Membertou Sports and Wellness Centre.
Noah Griffin scored twice and added an assist while brothers Austin and Donovan Arsenault each had a goal and two helpers and Dixon MacLeod contributed three assists to pace the Wild, who improved to 17-8-3 (won-lost-overtime losses). Sam MacNeill (1-1), Alex Graham (1-1) and Landon Clow also found the back of the net for Kensington.
Trey Sturge (1-2), Brendon MacRitchie and Drew MacIntyre replied for the Rush.
The Wild led 3-1 after the first period and extended that margin to 6-2 at the end of two.
Josh Smith turned in a 27-save performance in the Wild goal while the Rush’s Lucas Fraser faced 40 shots.
The Wild heads back to Nova Scotia on Friday to take on the Cape Breton West Islanders in Port Hood on Friday night. That game will close out the Wild’s interlocking schedule with Nova Scotia teams.
Kensington is back on home ice at the Credit Union Centre on Saturday against provincial rival Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights (8-16-4).
