CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Cedric Desruisseaux and Cole Edwards each scored twice Friday as the Charlottetown Islanders won their sixth straight game with a 6-2 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Zac Beauregard and Drew Johnston, returning to the lineup after a shoulder injury, each had a goal and an assist in the win at Eastlink Centre. The Islanders have won their past four Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games by 6-2 scores.

Nikita Alexandrov, Chris McQuaid and Lukas Cormier also recorded helpers.

Joshua Roy and Jeffrey Durocher scored for Saint John while assists went to Matt Gould, William Villeneuve, Ben Badalamenti and Days Corner native Charlie DesRoches.

Rookie Jacob Goobie made 38 stops for his seventh victory of the season while Zachary Bouthillier was peppered with 54 shots in the loss.

The Islanders, who held 2-0 and 2-1 period leads, went 1-for-5 on the power play and killed all seven of the Sea Dogs’ chances with the man advantage.

Charlottetown improved to 33-25-5-0 and opened up 10-point lead on Saint John (30-32-1-0) for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with each team having five games remaining.

The Islanders host Halifax (19-37-3-2) on Tuesday before games Friday and Saturday in Sydney, N.S., against the Cape Breton Eagles (38-19-2-1). The Isles conclude the regular season at home with games against Moncton (48-12-1-0) and Acadie-Bathurst (12-39-8-4) on March 20 and 21, respectively.
