SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — News and notes from the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
• The Campbellton Tigers have named North Bedeque native Coleton Perry team captain. Perry is entering his fourth season with the Tigers after coming out of the Kyle Dunn-coached Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild major under-18 program.
• Zac Arsenault of Montague earned an assist for the Grand Falls Rapids in a 4-3 shootout loss Saturday to the Edmundston Blizzard. Arsenault, another product of the Wild, is an assistant captain in his second season with the Rapids.
• Tyler Caseley of Kensington made 26 saves to backstop the Amherst Ramblers to a 2-1 win over the Truro Bearcats on Saturday night. Caseley was named the game’s second star. Caseley earned a 25-save shutout and was the game’s third star in the Ramblers’ 7-0 road win over the Pictou County Crushers on Thursday.
• Two products of the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride (now Knights) major under-18 team, Connor McGregor and Kennedy Gallant, each earned two assists in helping the Miramichi Timberwolves defeat the Fredericton Red Wings 6-2 on Saturday. McGregor and Kennedy, who was named the game’s second star, are both from Charlottetown. Gallant scored the Timberwolves’ lone goal in an 8-1 loss to Fredericton on Friday.
• The Fredericton Red Wings have appointed Declan MacEachern of Charlottetown as an assistant captain. MacEachern, who played major under-18 in Charlottetown, scored for Fredericton against Miramichi on Friday.
• Lucas Parsons of Stratford is part of the Truro Bearcats' leadership group as an assistant captain. Parsons, a member of the 2018-19 Wild, is in his second season with the Bearcats.
• Evan Gallant of Abram-Village is an assistant captain with Pictou County. Gallant, who played three years of major under-18 in Kensington, is in his third year with the Crushers.
