Island Storm show they belong by knocking off defending champion Moncton Magic

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — There are no undefeated teams remaining in the National Basketball League of Canada.

The Island Storm defeated the Moncton Magic 113-108 Sunday at the Eastlink Centre to hand the Magic (5-1) its first loss.

Alex Campbell led the Storm with 27 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Antwon Lillard chipped in 19 points and five rebounds while Robbie Robinson contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Nathaniel Wright and Keith Shamburger had 15 and 14 points, respectively, off the bench while Jailan Haslem hauled in 13 boards.

Corey Allmond led the Magic with 28 points while Billy White had 24 points and seven rebounds. Maurice Jones Sr. had 16 points, six assists and five steals off the bench.

The Storm held 32-23, 51-47 and 87-86 quarter leads before 889 people at the Eastlink Centre.

The Storm went 18-for-19 (95 per cent) at the free-throw line and shot 46 per cent (15-for-33) from downtown.

The win avenged a 120-112 loss to the Magic on Boxing Day to open the regular season.
