CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Abby Hyndman and Jayden McMullen have been named the Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
Hyndman helped the Hurricanes women’s volleyball team maintain a perfect record (11-0) this weekend with two victories in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) action.
She had 11 kills, three assists, five aces and seven digs in a 3-1 victory over Mount Allison on Friday before recording 19 kills, six aces and four digs in a 3-1 victory Sunday over the Dal AC Rams. The Charlottetown native is a second-year graphic design student.
McMullen, a first-year guard from Bedford, N.S., helped lead the Hurricanes (8-2) to two basketball victories during the weekend.
He had 16 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in Saturday’s 85-73 victory over the UNBSJ Seawolves. He contributed 21 points, a rebound and an assist in Sunday’s 76-72 victory over Mount Allison.
McMullen is in his first year of the sport and leisure management program.
