CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Bryce Corless was hot from downtown Saturday night in leading the Holland College Hurricanes to a 100-64 victory over the UNBSJ Seawolves in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball action.

The business student from Quispamsis, N.B., went 8-for-16 from three-point land, including nailing five in the first quarter, en route to a 28-point night.
Jayden McMullen had 17 points while Nathan Anderson had 12 points and 16 rebounds. Jordan Holness nearly had a triple-double with 12 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Xavier Starks chipped in 13 points and five rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench.

Adam Lambert and Hunter Gray had 18 and 15 points, respectively, for the Seawolves.

Holland College held quarter leads of 26-13, 56-34 and 77-49. The Hurricanes improved to 2-0 while UNBSJ is 1-2.

Women’s basketball

Ashley Plaggenhoef had a triple-double to pace Holland College to a 94-69 win over UNBSJ Saturday in women’s hoops action.

The Stratford freshman had 19 points, including going 4-for-6 from three-point land, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Kassandra Little had 19 points and 18 rebounds in the victory while Aki Kobayashi had 17 points and seven assists. Sophie Atkinson had 11 points and 13 rebounds while Kennedy Frittenburg chipped in 10 points off the bench.

Julia Bennett and Kathryn Magee had 20 and 19 points, respectively.

Holland College held 19-14, 46-41 and 69-60 quarter leads before pulling away in the fourth quarter. The Hurricanes are 1-1 while the Seawolves are 2-1.
