Former Charlottetown Islanders forward Gregor MacLeod has re-signed with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
It is a one-year deal. Terms were not disclosed.
The 21-year-old Dartmouth, N.S., native split his first pro season between the Griffins and the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye. Both are Detroit Red Wings’ farm teams.
He had three goals and three assists for six points in 22 AHL games while finishing with 19 points (nine goals and 10 assists) in 16 ECHL games. The six-foot, 175-pound forward scored his first professional goal on Oct. 26 against the AHL’s Texas Stars.
MacLeod began his junior career with the Campbellton Tigers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League before signing as a free agent with the Islanders in 2016. He played 1 ½ seasons with the Isles before being traded to the Quebec Remparts, who dealt him to the Drummondville Voltigeurs for his overage season in 2018-19. He had 84 points, including 35 goals, in 60 games with Drummondville and signed with the Griffins in March 2019.
