SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Tyson Gillis of the Summerside Crunch was named the offensive player of the week in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.
Gillis scored twice, including the winning goal and set up another, to help the Summerside Cover-All Construction Crunch to their first victory of the season with a win over Sherwood on Saturday night in Crapaud.
Gillis has not put up big numbers offensively in the past, but his performance on Saturday night went a long way to getting the Crunch in the win column.
Defensive award
North River Flames goaltender Ryan Clory was announced as the defensive player of the week award.
Clory turned in a 33-save performance in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces in Cornwall on Saturday.
Clory has three wins in his first four games this season. Saturday's win put the Flames in first place.
