SLEMON PARK, P.E.I. — McGuire Gallant turned in a 44-save effort and Thomas Shea registered four points to lead the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces to a 9-3 road victory over the Summerside Cover-All Construction Crunch at The Plex on Friday night.
The win improved the first-place Aces’ record to 14-1-1 (won-lost-overtime losses) in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League. The Crunch sits at 2-10-0.
Shea (2-2), Nathan Paynter (2), James Doyle (1-1), Nick VanderVelden (1-1), Will Tuplin, Brayden Handrahan and Kane Arsenault also scored for Tignish. Dawson Sellick (3) and Tristan Cahill (2) had multiple-assist games.
Remi Arsenault (1-1), Tyler Power and Tanner Gallant countered for the Crunch, who outshot the Aces 47-26.
The Aces built period leads of 5-2 and 7-2.
IceDogs win
In other action Friday, the host Georgetown IceDogs pulled out a 5-4 victory over the North River Flames at the Three Rivers Sportsplex.
Daniel Martell (1-1), Derian Johnson (1-1), Chris Sears (1-1), Donovan Wyand and Dawson McCarthy dented the twine for the IceDogs (4-10-0).
Connor Andrews (2), Zac MacKay and Kyler Weeks replied for the Flames (9-4-0). Chandler LaPorte added two assists.
Winning goaltender was Brandon Barrett and the Flames held a slim 32-30 shots-on-goal advantage.
