CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Bret Cheverie scored twice to pace the Sherwood Metros to a 6-3 victory over the Southside MacDonald’s Excavation/EF MacPhee Lynx Monday in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior Hockey League action.
Kyle Connell and Matt Dunn each had a goal and an assist as Sherwood (1-3-0) earned its first win of the season. Tanner Gallant and Colby Siliker rounded out the scoring for the winners at Cody Banks Arena.
Nick Bowman and Isaac McCabe each had two assists while Remi Arsenault, Nick Brown, Parker Cameron, Parker Gallant, Dylan Mugridge and Matt Power each chipped in one.
Caelan Campbell had a goal and an assist while Tyson Beckingham had two helpers to pace Southside (0-3-0). Nathan Paynter and Logan VanHul also scored while Mitch Callaghan, Riley Payne and Owan Wilkie each chipped in an assist.
Devon Newberry made 33 saves to earn the win while Zachery DesRoches turned aside 44 shots in the loss.
Southside led 1-0 after the first period but trailed 4-2 heading the to third.
Each team went 1-for-8 on the power play.
