CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Kyle Connell’s goal with 9:51 remaining in the third period lifted the Sherwood Metros to a 2-1 victory over the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces on Monday night.
The Cody Banks Arena was the site of the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior Hockey League game.
The Metros led 1-0 after the first and second periods on a goal by Bret Cheverie (1-1). Dawson Sellick, who was set up by Nathan Grigg and Brayden Handrahan, tied the game for the league-leading Aces (6-2-0) early in the third period.
Dylan Mugridge and Quaid Costello added assists for the Metros, who improved to 2-5-0.
Zack Hughes stopped 41 of 42 shots in earning the win while Ben Payter faced 38 shots in the loss.
The Aces received five of the game’s six minor penalties.
