Clory stops 28 shots as North River Flames move into first place

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —

Griffin Hughes scored the winner midway through the third period Monday as the North River Flames defeated the Sherwood Metros 3-1 in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior Hockey League action at Cody Banks Arena.

Kyler Weeks and Chandler Laporte also scored in the win while assists went to Nick Buote, Owen Handregan and Malcolm MacDonald.

Matt Dunn from Parker Gallant and Matt Power replied for the Metros.

Ryan Clory stopped 28 shots for the victory while Zack Hughes had 25 saves in the loss.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first and second periods.
The first-place Flames led the five-team league with a 4-1-1 record while the Metros are 1-4-0.
