Clory plays key role as North River beats Sherwood in P.E.I. junior C hockey

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The North River Flames used a four-goal second period to defeat the Sherwood Metros 5-2 Monday in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League action.

Kyler Weeks had a goal and two assists to pace the Flames at Cody Banks Arena while Drew Doiron and Daniel Godfrey each had a goal and an assist. Carter MacFadyen and Aaron McCloskey rounded out the scoring for the Flames while assists went to goalie Ryan Clory (2), Griffin Hughes, Donovan Wyand and Patrick Wyand.

Remi Arsenault had a goal and an assist for the Metros. Jake Lafferty had the other marker while Nick Brown chipped in a pair of helpers.

Clory made 36 saves in the victory while Devon Newberry stopped 33 shots in the loss.

Sherwood went 1-for-7 on the power play and killed all five of North River’s opportunities with the man advantage.

The Metros led 1-0 after the first period but went to the third trailing 4-1 after the Flames scored three goals in about two minutes midway through the frame. North River improved to 7-2-1 and is in third place in the five-team standings while Sherwood (2-10-0) is fourth.
