CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown Islanders captain Brendon Clavelle made the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s team of the week.

The overage defenceman had four assists and was a plus-4 in three games for the Isles during the past week. The 20-year-old Kapuskasing, Ont., native has 11 assists in 34 games this season – his third in Charlottetown.

The team also included Cape Breton defenceman Nathan Larose and Gatineau goalie Remi Poirier, plus forward Egor Sokolov (Cape Breton), Luke Henman (Blainville-Boisbriand) and Benjamin Tardif (Sherbrooke).
The Islanders scholastic player of the month for Decemeber was defenceman Noah Laaouan, who is studying business at UPEI. Former Isles forward Derek Gentile received the award for the Cape Breton Eagles. The newly minted captain of the Eagles studies business at Cape Breton University.
