HAMPSHIRE, P.E.I. — The Charlottetown Rural Raiders Team One basketball teams swept a pair of games from the Bluefield Bobcats Monday in Prince Edward Island School Athletic Association senior action.
Girls
In the opener, the Raiders girls squad held quarter leads of 28-6, 42-12 and 77-20 en route to a 98-22 victory.
The Raiders improved to 1-0 while the Bobcats are 1-1.
Katie Vidito scored 31 points to lead the Raiders while Sydney Lawlor had 22 and Isabella McGeoghegan chipped in 14 in the win. Grace Morrison scored a team-high seven for the Bobcats while Elesea Glenn contributed five and Julie Goodwin four.
Boys
The Raiders won the boys game 65-56 to improve to 1-0 while the Bobcats are 1-2.
Daniel Quinn led the Raiders with 21 points while Kalon MacDonald-Wood had 16 points and nine rebound and Isaac Hughes contributed 15 points and nine boards. Tyler Newson had 20 points to pace the Bobcats while Thomas Yeo chipped in 16.
The game was tied 13-13 after the first quarter while the Raiders held a 38-22 lead at the half and were up 51-40 heading to the fourth. The Bobcats cut into the lead in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Raiders were able to get the stops down the stretch to preserve the victory.
