CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Charlottetown Islanders will return to action later this week.
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced Monday night that public health officials in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia have approved the league’s plan to continue the 2020-21 season.
“However, with the actual epidemiological status in New Brunswick, the government and its public health officials have delayed their return to regular activities until the situation has improved,” a news release from the league said.
The league has worked out a schedule with the Islanders, Cape Breton Eagles and Halifax Mooseheads for the next month. It is subject to change depending on New Brunswick’s situation.
The Islanders will travel to Nova Scotia this weekend, playing the Eagles Friday at 7 p.m. and the Mooseheads Sunday at 4 p.m. Charlottetown will host its first home game on Wednesday, Feb. 3, when the Mooseheads visit Eastlink Centre for a 7 p.m. game.
