Birt rink improves to 4-2 with win over the Yukon

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Prince Edward Island improved to 4-2 by defeating the Yukon 11-5 in eight ends Wednesday at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Sask.

The Island rink, consisting of skip Suzanne Birt, vice-skip Marie Christianson, second Meaghan Hughes, lead Michelle McQuaid and coach Mitch O’Shea, complete the preliminary round in the 3:30 p.m. Atlantic draw against the Northwest Territories (2-4).

In Wednesday morning’s game, P.E.I. was trailing 3-2 after four ends before the Montague Curling Club squad counted five in the fifth, stole three in the sixth and another in the seventh. The Yukon got two back in the eighth before shaking hands.

P.E.I. is currently third in Pool B.
