CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada used a three-goal second period to defeat the Charlottetown Islanders 4-1 Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Simon Pinard scored the final two goals of the game, including an empty-netter, at the Eastlink Centre while Maxim Bykov and Blake Richardson also scored.
Liam Peyton scored his ninth goal of the season on a second period power play for the Isles with Cedric Desruisseaux and Oscar Plandowski drawing the assist.
Emile Samson stopped 19 shots for the victory while rookie Jacob Goobie made 25 saves in the losss.
After a scoreless first period, the Armada took a 3-1 lead to the third. Charlottetown was 1-for-2 on the power play while Blainville-Boisbriand went 1-for-4. The Armada improved to 26-17-2-1 while the Isles are 24-19-5-0.
The Isles host the Moncton Wildcats (31-12-0-0) Sunday at 3 p.m. Moncton blasted Halifax 8-0 on Saturday with Summerside’s Jeremy McKenna scoring a goal and setting up two more.
