Aces, IceDogs earn junior C victories

TIGNISH, P.E.I. — The Tignish Aces and Georgetown IceDogs picked up home-ice victories in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Friday night.

The Aces blanked the Southside Lynx 7-0, and the IceDogs doubled the Sherwood-Parkdale Metros 6-3.

At the Tignish Credit Union Arena, Ben Payter recorded a 35-save shutout as the league-leading Aces improved to 5-1-0 (won-lost-overtime losses).

Ethan Rix (2), Tristan Cahill (1-1), Kane Arsenault, Jacob Hogan Dawson Sellick and Devon Sherren scored for the Aces. Adam Doucette and Brayden Handrahan each added two assists.

The Aces, who directed 52 shots at Lynx goaltender Coulton Coles, held period leads of 5-0 and 7-0.

The Crapaud-based Lynx fell to 0-5-0.

IceDogs 6 Metros 3

At the Three Rivers Sportsplex, the Metros led 2-1 after the first period, and the teams entered the final 20 minutes tied 2-2.

Michael Gallant (2), Jake Lafferty (1-1), Michael Jenkins, Cole Mosher and Cam White accounted for Georgetown’s scoring. Caden Kielly and Ty Peardon contributed a pair of helpers to help the IceDogs improve to 5-2-0.

Remi Arsenault (2) and Nick Bowman answered for the Metros (1-5-0).

Overall, the IceDogs outshot the Metros 49-37. Brandon Barrett picked up the goaltending win. Devon Newberry was between the pipes for the Metros.
