CHARLOTTETOWN – Megan LeBlanc made Holland College women’s volleyball history on Sunday.

LeBlanc, who plays the power position, recorded 16 kills in the Hurricanes’ 3-1 (25-22, 25-10, 21-25, 25-17) win over the UKC Blue Devils in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association action at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement. LeBlanc, a second-year business administration student, now has 228 kills during the 2017-18 campaign, which is a new team single-season record.
Brittany States had another strong hitting game with 13 kills for the second straight match, with Philicia Johnson chipping in with five kills.
Gracie Ferguson had a match-high 31 assists, and Dana Trainor led the way in digs with 15. Two other players reached double figures in digs – Sam Gerbig (11) and Ferguson (10).
Gerbig led the way at the service line with three aces while Ferguson, States and LeBlanc all had two apiece.

Saturday
Saturday, the Hurricanes posted a 3-0 win over the Blue Devils. Set scores were 26-24, 25-23, 25-17.
States, who had 13 kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace, led the Hurricanes. LeBlanc added seven kills while Johnson and Gerbig chipped in with four each.
Ferguson registered a match-high 25 assists, and LeBlanc paced a balanced defensive effort with 11 digs. Seven other players recorded at least five digs, including Gerbig’s nine and Trainor’s eight.
Gerbig and Ferguson also had a good day at the service line recording four and three aces, respectively.
The second-place Hurricanes are 16-3 (won-lost). The Blue Devils (6-12) are in sixth place.
The Hurricanes will conclude the regular season on the road with matches against the Mount Allison Mounties (7-12) on Saturday and St. Thomas Tommies (14-5) on Sunday.
