Islanders climb onto CHL top-10 list

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Charlottetown Islanders have cracked the Kia CHL top-10 list.
The Isles moved up from an honourable mention last week to No. 10 in this week’s rankings, which is compiled by a panel of NHL scouts. They were released on Wednesday.
“I think it fills us with confidence and reassures us that we’re a really good team and we’re a contending team in this league,” said veteran Daniel Hardie. “I think teams, still to this day, are taking us maybe a little lightly.”
Charlottetown (20-8-2-1) is one of five Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) teams on the list. The Islanders are 17-3-1-1 since starting the season 3-5-1-0.
Hardie said the team was slow out of the gate but has since found its identity.
The WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders are ranked No. 1, followed by the QMJHL’s Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s.
Also making the list from the QMJHL were: Drummondville (7), Halifax (8) and Baie-Comeau (9) while Moncton is an honourable mention after being ranked eighth a week ago.
