SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The remainder of this weekend's schedule in the Island Petroleum cashspiel at the Silver Fox in Summerside is cancelled.
Organizers announced the decision on Saturday afternoon, shortly after the announcement by P.E.I. chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrison that there are three new COVID-19 cases on P.E.I.
Organizers said they "don't want to risk the health of anyone" in a statement.
Play began on Friday and was to conclude with the championship game on Sunday afternoon.
There were 16 rinks registered, and four draws were completed.
Teams were competing for $3,000 in prize money. The breakdown includes $3,000 for first place, $800 for second place, $600 for the third- and fourth-place rinks and $400 for the fifth-through-eighth-place teams.
