TIGNISH, P.E.I. — The Georgetown IceDogs moved back into sole possession of first place in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Friday night.
The IceDogs, led by Sammy Docherty’s two goals and one assist, topped the Tignish Aces 6-1 in a first-place showdown at the Tignish Credit Union Arena. The IceDogs, who improved to 11-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses), moved two points ahead of the second-place Aces (10-4-0).
Also scoring for the IceDogs were Michael Jenkins (2), Jason Gormley and Alex MacEachern. Ty Peardon (2), MacKenzie Good, Caden Kielly, Ryan MacDonald, Cole Mosher and Cam White earned assists.
James Doyle and Oliver Smallman set up the Aces’ lone goal from Thomas Shea.
The IceDogs built period leads of 3-1 and 5-1.
Brandon Barrett recorded the goaltending win with a 22-save effort. Cole Gallant faced 37 shots in the Tignish goal.
League action resumes with two games on Saturday. The IceDogs host the North River Flames (7-2-1) at the Three Rivers Sportsplex at 8 p.m. and the Sherwood-Parkdale Metros (2-10-0) travel to Crapaud to take on the Southside Lynx (0-10-0) at 7:50 p.m.
