CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Holland College men’s and women’s soccer teams went 3-0-1 to close out the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association regular season over the weekend.
The men’s team downed the UNBSJ Seawolves 2-1 on Saturday, shut out the St. Thomas Tommies 2-0 on Sunday and clinched first place in the ACAA standings.
Holland College (9-2-1) is the top seed going into the conference championship this weekend in Halifax, N.S., and face fourth-ranked the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics (6-3-3) on Saturday in a 2:30 p.m. semifinal.
On the women’s side, Holland College (8-3-1) blanked UNBSJ 2-0 Saturday then tied St. Thomas 2-2 on Sunday.
Pencilled into the third seed, the ‘Canes tangle with the Mystics (9-2-1) in Saturday’s 10 a.m. semi in a return to the playoffs after missing out last season.

The ‘Canes secured the number one seed entering the ACAA championship courtesy of second-half scores by Tegan Misener (55th minute) and Aleco Iatrou (59th minute) and solid goal work by keeper Brandon Lund.
The game was scoreless after the first half.
Women
Hurricanes 2, Tommies 2
The Hurricanes pulled out to a 2-0 lead after first-half goals from Grace Peardon and Emma Vos. But Holland College couldn’t contain the hard-charging Tommies, which tied the game 2-2 on markers by Leandra Upton (55th minute) and Moira Kinney (60th minute), and secured the single point and first place in the standings.

Hurricanes 2, Seawolves 1
The Hurricanes opened the scoring in the 23rd minute thanks to Alex Lourenso. Two minutes later Tegan Misener tallied the eventual game-winning goal.
UNBSJ answered in the 42 minute on Alex Allison’s marker, but the Seawolves couldn’t find the equalizer.
Women
Hurricanes 2, Seawolves 0
Sabrina Molnar scored at the 12 and 44-minute marks, while Hailey Terstege was perfect in goal as the ‘Canes earned the shutout victory.
