X-Men score three power-play goals to defeat Panthers

ANTIGONISH, N.S. – Adam Stevens, Mark Tremaine and Nathan Pancel each had a goal and an assist Saturday as the St. FX X-Men doubled the UPEI Panthers 6-3 in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.

The host squad held 2-1 and 4-2 period leads and scored three times on five power-play chances. UPEI was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

Regan Spears, Matt Needham and Adam Laishram also scored. Holden Cook and Cole MacDonald each had a pair of helpers while singles went to Kelvin Grove native Bailey Webster, Lane Cormier and Adam Holwell.

Kameron Kielly, Filip Rydstrom and Owen Headrick each had a goal and an assist while Cody Payne added a helper.

Former Charlottetown Islander Blade Mann-Dixon made 30 saves for the win while Simon Hofley stopped 16 shots in the loss.

St. FX caught UPEI in the standings with the win with both teams sporting 10-8-2 records. The Panthers finish the weekend in Halifax Saturday with a 7 p.m. game with the Dalhousie Tigers.
