CHICOUTIMI, QUE. – The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild dropped its opening game of the CCM Midget AAA Challenge 5-3 to Étoiles Scolaires Wednesday in Chicoutimi, Que.
Étoiles Solaires held 2-1 and 4-2 period leads and scored the insurance goal with 55 seconds to play.
Colby MacArthur scored twice for Kensington while Bennett MacArthur had a goal and two assists. Keiran Gallant, Landon Clow and Ryan Richards each had a helper.
Philippe Thomassin and Thomas Pichette had a goal and an assist for the winners while Jaheem Aurelien Lagace and Isaac Lambert each had two helpers. Xavier Sarrasin, Thomas Beaudoin and Mathis Ross also found the back of the net.
William Rousseau stopped 23 shots for the win while Josh Smith made 17 saves in the loss.
The Wild was 0-for-2 on the power play and killed six Étoiles Scolaires’ power plays.
