POWNAL, P.E.I. – It took most of the game, but the Central Attack got past a feisty Eastern Express squad 6-5 in P.E.I. Bantam AAA Hockey League action Thursday in Pownal.

Eastern’s Caleb MacDonald (1-1) tied things 5-5 with 1:43 left in the third period, but a goal by Central’s Kal White 18 seconds later proved to be the game winner.

Ross Campbell second goal of the game gave the Express a 4-3 edge early in the third, but Central’s Colby Huggan scored twice, the second with 2:16 left, and turned the lead the Attack’s way at 5-4. That lasted until MacDonald’s marker.

Luke Coughlin, Bates Ling and Brett Arsenault had the other Attack goals, while Huggan (2), Isaac Vos (3) and Cam Squires (2) chipped in multiple assist games.

Avery Brown (1-2) and Sam Cassibo potted the other Express markers. Connor Pierce and Nolan Stewart each tallied two assists.

Shannon MacDonald stopped 20-of-25 shots in the win for the Attack, which lead the standings with a 15-1 record. Nathan Bailey kicked aside 28-of-34 shots in the loss for the second-place Express (6-7).

The Attack went 2-for-5 on the power play, while Eastern was 1-for-7 with the extra man.

Central led 1-0 after the first period. The game was tied 3-3 at the second intermission.
