SUMMERSIDE – Three wins in three days was not enough to prevent the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals from falling in the Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings.
The Capitals, who are 26-5-0 (won-lost-overtime losses), dropped from fourth to fifth position in the latest rankings released Monday afternoon. The Yarmouth Mariners, the only other MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) to crack the top-20 rankings, remain at No. 7.
The Capitals posted a 6-1 home-ice win over the St. Stephen Aces (12-18-3) on Thursday, rallied for a 4-3 overtime win in Campbellton, N.B., on Friday night against the Tigers (19-10-5) and posted another road win on Saturday evening – 5-0 over the Miramichi Timberwolves (12-19-2). The Caps have won seven games in a row, 10 of their last 11 and have an MHL-best .839 winning percentage.

Eastlink North Division-leading Summerside, which holds three games-in-hand, trails Yarmouth by two points in the MHL’s overall standings. Yarmouth sits atop the Eastlink South Division.
The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League remain the top-ranked junior A team in the country. The Bandits have won 15 straight games, and sport an overall record of 39-3-0.
The Thunder Bay North Stars (25-2-2) of the Superior International Junior Hockey League are ranked second, the Oakville Blades (34-4-3) of the Ontario Junior Hockey League hold down the third spot while the Cobras de Terrebonne (28-4-3) of the Quebec Junior Hockey League moved up one spot from fifth to fourth.
The Capitals are back in action on Tuesday as they visit St. Stephen for a make-up contest. The Caps return home to face the Truro Bearcats (19-11-2) at Eastlink Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m.
