SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Kayden Peck’s first of two goals on the night was the winner Saturday as the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals defeated the Campbellton Tigers 3-0 in Maritime Junior Hockey League action.

Dominik Tmej made 59 saves for the shutout at Credit Union Place while Tristan Gray stopped 18 shots in the loss.

Peck scored 14 minutes into the first period and 14:22 into the third period. Brodie MacArthur added a power-play goal with 2:30 to play.

Conor MacEachern, Kyle Nichol, Sullivan Sparkes and Cam Roberts had the assists.

Each team had 12 shots in the first period, but the Tigers peppered Tmej with 26 in the second period and 21 more in the final 20 minutes.

The Capitals were 1-for-6 on the power play and killed all seven of the Tigers opportunities.

Summerside improved to 18-4-0-0 while Campbellton dropped to 14-8-1-2.

The Capitals hit the road for their next four games, starting Saturday, Dec. 15, in St. Stephen, N.B., before returning home to host the Valley Wildcats on New Year’s Eve for a 5 p.m. contest.
