CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A pair of Charlottetown Islanders’ prospects left training camp Saturday to protect their NCAA eligibility.
Players can be in camp for 48 hours.
Forwards Charles-Edward Tardif and Justin Hardie were the two who left.
Tardif, 16, was an eight-round pick from Quebec City in this year’s draft. He played at the Ontario Hockey Academy last year. Hardie, 17, was a free-agent invite to camp. The six-foot-five, 200-pound left-winger was part of the Halifax Macs squad that won the Atlantics in the spring at MacLauchlan Arena.
A pair of Islanders also got hurt during the first intrasquad game. Sam Archibald is out with an ankle injury while Ben Boyd has a charley horse.
The Islanders head to Quispamsis, N.B., Sunday to play the Saint John Sea Dogs in their first game of the pre-season. The Isles host Moncton Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the APM Centre in Cornwall.
