SYDNEY – The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have named Gerard Shaw as the team’s new governor, replacing Richard Morency, who served in the role for nearly 20 years.
Shaw, who is also the team’s president, will be the team’s representative on the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League board of governors.
"Mr. Morency has done a tremendous job in representing our team with the QMJHL. We want to thank him for his service and applaud his dedication to the Eagles organization,” said Screaming Eagles majority owner Irwin Simon in a press release, Tuesday. “Mr. Shaw has a strong vision for our team and will make us proud around the QMJHL table.”
Morency is excited about the future of the Screaming Eagles organization.
“"I look forward to watching the progress Gerard and team will make over the coming years," says Morency. "It was my pleasure to represent the Eagles with the league. I will always be cheering for them.”
