CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Goalies Camille Scherger and Matthew Mancina are the UPEI Panther Subway athletes of the week.
Camille Scherger, a second-year science student from Lloydminster, Alta., stopped 64 of 65 shots in the last three games, as the Panthers defeated Mount Allison and St. FX and lost 1-0 to Dalhousie.
“Shuggs has been playing with a lot of confidence, strong rebound control, and gives us an opportunity to put points on the board,” said coach Bruce Donaldson.
Mancina, a second-year business student from Windsor, Ont., had a .949 save percentage in the Panthers 4-2 victory over Moncton.
“Matthew was very good and made key saves in key moments,” said coach Forbes MacPherson. “Early in the game, U de M had a five-on-three (power play). There were a couple of big saves, we killed the penalties, and even scored a short-handed goal. It was a big boost, and Matthew was dialed in the rest of the game.”
