Bianca Canade’s goal 37 seconds into the second period stood up as the winner Friday as the Dalhousie Tigers defeated the UPEI Panthers 1-0 in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.
Danika Philips and Lauren Ellerton had the assists for the Tigers at the Halifax Forum.
The loss prevented the Panthers from clinching a playoff berth.
Fabiana Petricca made 32 stops for the shutout while Camille Scherger stopped 21 shots in the loss.
UPEI was 0-for-1 on the power play while killing all six of Dalhousie’s chances.
The Tigers improved to 10-14-2 while the Panthers are 12-12-1. UPEI continues its stay in Nova Scotia tonight with a stop in Antigonish to play the St. FX X-Women (16-6-3) at 7 p.m.
