CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The UPEI Panthers snapped their four-game losing streak Wednesday with a 3-2 shootout win over the Moncton Aigles Bleues in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.

Kelly Clements scored the winner after the teams played to a 2-2 tie in regulation and two five-minute overtime periods solved nothing.

Three of the four goals in regulation were scored on the power play.

Moncton’s Emilie Lalancette and UPEI’s Jenna Pellerin exchanged first period goals while Katryne Villeneuve scored in the second period to give the visitors a 2-1 lead heading to the third.

Summerside’s Taylor Gillis scored the equalizer 5:54 into the third period while the teams were playing at even strength.

Sara-Eve Mailhot and Chantal Beauchamp had helpers for Moncton while Kristen MacIntyre had the lone assist for UPEI.

Camille Scherger stopped 34 shots for the win while Audrey Berthiame made 33 saves in the loss.

The Panthers travel to Antigonish, N.S., Friday for a date with the St. FX X-Women (6-1-1).
