Morris’s OT marker lifts Pride to season-opening win

FREDERICTON – Seth Morris scored 35 seconds into overtime to lift the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride to a 4-3 victory over the host Fredericton Caps at Willie O'Ree Place on Sunday.

 

It was the Pride’s 2018-19 regular-season debut in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League season while the Caps fell to 1-0-1 (won-lost-overtime losses).
Cole Larkin, with his second helper of the game, and Declan MacEachern set up the game-winning tally.
Sam MacNeill (1-1), Dylan Matthews and Keegan Mitchell also scored for Charlottetown. Noah Griffin added a single assist.
Cam Thomson (2) and Ryan Penney (1-1) countered for the Caps.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first and second periods.
Winning goaltender Erik MacInnis turned aside 28 of 31 shots while Frederic Plourde was tested 33 times in the Fredericton cage.
The Pride’s next game is Friday in Saint John against the Vitos (2-0) at 8 p.m.
