KENSINGTON – CJ McCardle and Garrett Murray paced the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers to victory in a high-scoring Island Junior Hockey League game on Sunday afternoon.
McCardle netted a hat trick while Murray collected four assists in the Vipers’ 8-6 decision over the Eastern Maniacs at Community Gardens.
Logan Vandervelden (1-2), Campbell Gallant (1-1), Tyler Gallant, Easton Smith and Riley Gallant also dented the twine for the Vipers, who improved to 9-9-3 (won-lost-overtime losses). Kensington moved into a second-place tie with the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros (10-7-1), who hold three games-in-hand.
Keegan Buchanan, Parker Ronahan, Kyle Pinksen, Jacob Stewart, Noah Stewart and affiliated player Ryan Richards drew assists for Kensington.
Jason Poley (2), Curtis McGregor (1-1), Blake Jamieson (1-1), Nathan Cahill (1-1) and Jonathan Arsenault countered for the Maniacs (4-13-1). Mike MacGregor (2), Eddie Jenkins (2), Alex Chapman, Tyler Rose and Alex Gallant were credited with helpers.
The Vipers held period leads of 4-0 and 7-4.
Winning goaltender was Caelan Ferguson.
