Maniacs lose 7-2 to Vito's

SOURIS, P.E.I. – Patrik Landry scored twice to lead the Moncton Vito’s to a 7-2 victory over the Eastern Maniacs Saturday in interlocking junior B hockey action.

Alex Chapman and Andrew Campbell scored for Eastern with Dawson Palmer and Eddie Jenkins each had an assist at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex.

Moncton held a 2-0 lead after the first period, but the host Maniacs scored two power-play goals to tie it 11:42 into the second period. Moncton replied with a power-play goal of its own 2:38 later and added two more to take a commanding 5-2 lead to the third.

Julien Landry made 41 saves for the win while Cam Duffy stopped 19 shots in the loss.

Each team was 2-for-5 on the power play. The Maniacs are 0-7-0 on the season.

The Maniac travel to Kensington tonight to play the Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (5-2-0) at 7 p.m.

The Vito’s end the weekend today with a 2:15 p.m. contest with the Island Junior Hockey League-leading Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings (7-3-0) at the Evangeline Rec Centre.
