A goal by Chris Sear with 2:28 remaining in the third period sent the Eastern Maniacs to a much-needed victory on Saturday night.
Sear’s third goal of the game broke a 3-3 tie, lifting the Maniacs to a 4-3 decision over the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris. It was the first win of the 2018-19 campaign for the Maniacs, who dropped their first 18 regular-season games.

Zach Kennific scored Eastern’s other goal while Nathan Cahill (2), Andrew Campbell, Kyle Martin, Connor MacIntyre, Sammy Docherty and Tyson McInnis collected assists.
Three different players – Barrington Duffy, Drew Bowman and Connor Gray – countered for the Metros, who sit at 10-13-1 (won-lost-overtime losses). Helpers were credited to Cale Pierce (2), Alex Hall, Tanner Lund and Grant MacAdam.
The Maniacs took a 3-2 advantage into the final 20 minutes after the opening period ended in a 2-2 tie.
Winning goaltender Cam Duffy registered 30 saves. Ben Parent was tested 29 times in the Sherwood-Parkdale net.
