KENSINGTON – A five-point night by Colby MacArthur ignited the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild on Saturday night.
MacArthur scored twice and assisted on three others in leading the Wild to an 8-1 victory over the Fredericton Caps in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League contest at Credit Union Centre.
Fans were also treated to a glimpse of old-time hockey as players on the ice from both teams, excluding the goaltenders, were involved in an incident with 5:04 remaining in the third period. When all was said and done, each team was assessed two fighting majors, one game misconduct, one double game misconduct and one 10-minute misconduct while the Wild picked up an extra cross-checking minor.

Jack Campbell (2-1) and Dixon MacLeod (1-2) each had three points while Keiran Gallant netted a brace. Bennett MacArthur scored the other goal for second-place Kensington, which improved to 22-5-1 (won-lost-overtime losses). Ryan Richards and Zac Arsenault each collected a pair of assists while single helpers went to Isaac Wilson and Matthew McQuaid.
Connor Doherty’s unassisted second-period tally accounted for Fredericton’s only goal.
The Wild built a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes, and held a 5-1 cushion at the end of 40 minutes.
Josh Smith earned the goaltending win with a solid 33-save effort.
The Wild is back in action on Friday in Moncton, N.B., against the first-place Flyers (23-3-1). The Flyers, who have one game-in-hand, hold a two-point lead over the Wild.
Kensington returns home to entertain the Bathurst, N.B.-based Northern Moose (1-25-2) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
