SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild completed the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League’s pre-season jamboree on a strong note

The Wild defeated the Moncton Flyers 5-0 and Northern Moose 3-2 on Sunday to post a 2-1-1 (won-lost-tied) record during the two-day event at the Superior Propane Centre in Moncton, N.B.
Saturday, Kensington tied the Saint John Vitos 2-2 and lost 4-0 to the Fredericton Caps.
The Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Knights dropped both their games Sunday – 3-1 to Fredericton and 3-0 to Saint John – to finish 0-3-1. Charlottetown tied Moncton 1-1 and dropped a 5-3 decision to Northern on Saturday.

The Wild and Knights will open the 2019-20 regular season at MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown on Friday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. The Wild’s home opener is the following night at Credit Union Centre in Kensington against Saint John at 7:30 p.m.
Following are recaps of Sunday’s games:

Wild 5 Flyers 0
Dixon MacLeod had a goal and an assist while Jonah Arbing registered the shutout in leading the Wild.
Frederick Morency, Noah Griffin, Carson MacKay and Sam MacNeill also scored for the Wild. Seth MacLeod, Crosby Andrews, Reid Vos, Landon Clow and Duncan Picketts added single assists.
The Wild built period leads of 1-0 and 4-0.

Wild 3 Moose 2
Landon Clow’s goal at 5:54 of the third period capped a two-goal rally for Kensington, which tied the game 2-2 on Kieran Rennie’s goal at 4:14.
Sam Bowness also scored for Kensington while MacKay and MacNeill contributed helpers.
Cole Augustine and Anthony Savoie countered for the Bathurst, N.B.-based Moose.
Northern held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1.
Winning goaltender was Turner Ellis.

Vitos 3 Knights 0
Saint John, which received shutout goaltending from Jack Flanagan, scored all three goals in the second period.
Riley Rooney, Riley Nordstrom and Luke Thorne found the back of the net for the Vitos.

Caps 3 Knights 1
Camden Thompson and Joshua Nadeau scored third-period goals to send the Caps to victory.
Fredericton’s Jeffery Theriault and Josh Lund of the Knights exchanged second-period goals after a scoreless opening frame. Will Morrison set up Lund’s goal.
Winning goaltender was Matthew Parker.
